Once a delivery order is received in the Captain system, it will appear as a red pin on your Dispatch App:

There are three basic actions that you may want to take with a delivery: (1) Assign it to a driver; (2) Unassign it from a driver; or (3) Cancel it completely from the system. In manual mode on Captain Dispatch, these actions are straight forward:

Assigning a Delivery

To assign a delivery:

  1. Select the blue Dispatch button

  2. Click on the order(s) you wish to assign in the sequence you prefer them to be delivered (you can select orders from the map pins or from the left sidebar)

  3. Select the driver who's turn it is next (the driver at the top was the driver who returned to the store first)

  4. Select the black Assign button

This driver will now get a notification on their Driver App, and the map pin(s) will change to green when they have marked their order(s) as collected.

Unassigning a Delivery

Did you accidentally dispatch the orders to the wrong driver? Or perhaps a driver had car troubles and another driver will fulfill the deliveries. To unassign a delivery:

  1. Select the delivery order from the map pin or the left sidebar list

  2. Select "Unassign"

  3. Confirm the prompt that asks if you are certain

The delivery will be returned to the unassigned list, and you can re-assign to another driver.

Cancelling an Order

There will be instances where you need to cancel a delivery - a customer accidentally places two orders; a customer changes their mind. To cancel a delivery:

  1. Select the individual delivery from the map pin or the left sidebar list

  2. Select "Cancel Order"

  3. Provide a cancellation reason

The delivery will disappear from the list and the map. Please note that depending on your POS integration, you may also need to cancel this order in your internal system. This action cannot be undone once an order has been cancelled.
