The driver app is your driving team's tool for everything they need to deliver an order, and eliminates the need for manual address input and phone number dialling. The below video outlines the settings of the driver app and takes them through each step in the order delivery process. This video is included in the onboarding email that drivers receive when they are invited to a store.

Location Services

Location services must be set to "Always On" on the device settings. If a device is set to "Allow only when in use", location information will only be shared when the Driver App is open in the foreground. This means that if the app is in the background, for instance when you are in your navigation app, their location will not be shared with the dispatcher or customer. By selecting "Allow all the time" or equivalent, live location will be shared regardless of if you have another app open.

Driver Location Tracking

Driver location is only being tracked when a driver is both signed into the app and on duty. Location tracking is required for both the dispatcher and the customer to be to harness the full experience of the Captain system. When a driver is off duty or signed out, their location is not being tracked.

Data Usage

The Driver App is optimized to use the least amount of data possible. Data used by navigation apps (i.e. Waze, Google Maps) is separate from data used by the Driver App. The exact amount of data used will depend largely on the number of jobs you complete in a shift and the distance you travel - a shift with 10 deliveries will download approximately 1MB of data and upload the same amount. The in-app data usage page is an estimate - the most accurate data can be found in the device's statistics from the Mobile Network settings.
